The Department of Dance, Division of Culture and Arts at the Jerusalem municipality has collaborated with Jerusalemite dance artists to create Yael, a local home for independent performance and dance artists in Jerusalem, in order to promote professional work and artists in the field.

Beit Yael aspires to create a community of dance and performance artists in Jerusalem: artists who engage in artistic dialogue and initiate interdisciplinary collaborations and artistic work in the city.

The house provides a space for work, creation, stage, exposure, continuing training and tools for self-management, thereby increasing dance and performance creators’ employment opportunities as well as their points of contact, making their work accessible to the greater public.

Beit Yael operates on three levels to realize its vision: expansion and building the community of choreographers and independent creators in Jerusalem; a sphere for promoting creators and creation; and marketing, branding and advertising intended to:

Provide dance creators with a space for work and creation in Jerusalem, at zero or minimal cost.

Promote and create artistic collaborations: by promoting artists and their work, community members will be able to take part in festivals, stages and events by culture institutions in the city.

Expose community members to relevant institutions, producers, culture consumers, culture directors and various publics.

Hold continuing training and masterclasses in the fields of performance and stage art, as well as production, management, marketing and self-advertising towards holding location-dependent shows.

Bring together the artist community, promoting mutually-productive work relationships for further development.

Empower community members on an artistic, professional and personal level, in a progressive process, from completion of the work to its on-stage production.
